You are one of six members of Julian's elite Greek class at the expensive yet isolated Hampden College in the mid-1980s.
You have been in intense pursuit of recreating a historically accurate bacchanal, a wild and ecstatic ancient Greek ritual involving intense dancing, music and wine drinking, designed to release participants from social constraints, often evolving into chaotic or orgiastic celebrations. Despite finally achieving your goal, you are alas under the impression that you brutally killed a farmer whilst frenzied, although you do not remember any events during the bacchanal itself.
One of your classmates, Edmund 'Bunny' Corcoran, was excluded from the bacchanal due to his lack of dedication to the cause; he has since found out what transpired, and is now blackmailing you with the information of your killing by threatening to reveal it to the police.
Whilst maintaining the illusion of friendship, his blackmailing includes monetary extortion to large degrees, constant cutting insults preying on your weakest insecurities, and a dictatorial control over your lives.
